Since 1993 APIR^® has been the Financial Services Industry's standard identification and coding agency for all products and more recently, participants.

Products referred to by their APIR^® code will be listed in APIR's YellowBook^® Directory while industry participants who have been registered with APIR are listed in the WhiteBook^® Directory. These directories are regularly accessed by Research Houses, Centrelink, Platforms, ATO, Advisers, Dealers and Funds.

The SPIN code used in the SPIN Register conforms to the same recognised standard as the product codes used for products listed in the YellowBook^® Directory. The SPIN Code allows participating funds to undertake the e-commerce initiatives outlined by the swimEC Council and meets ATO reporting guidelines.

APIR^® remains committed to obtaining maximum consensus from industry associations, market participants and regulators, to ensure the positive growth of the Financial Services Industry in a growing information technology environment.

APIR^® will continue to roll out critical information utilities required to support the development of electronic business. Available industry wide, these utilities will take the form of information registers based around participants and products and incorporated additional tools.
